Miscommunication is endemic to communication -- misunderstood as intended by sender, or only partially read by reader.  (If in doubt, maybe pick up the phone, too?)

Be kind when composing, reading, and communicating; please remember our mutually agreed values of Rotary:

- Subject line: make it relevant & meaningful preface.
- Sign by Rotarian author, title or committee designation (if any), and contact information: Address and Phone numbers.
- Brief, single topic messages are encouraged.
- Cc: footnote persons copied, and why they are copied.
- No Bcc:, or blind copying.

- No forwarding without first obtaining the initiating author's permission; ifdi minimis, Cc: initiating author.

- No presumption of delivery, unless acknowledged by the recipient. 
- Copying large numbers of Rotarians is discouraged.  Think before clicking Reply All!


-Maintain up-to-date virus checking software.
-Scan Attachments for viruses and malware before sending. 

-No Rotarian should be added to an "Egroup" or other type of bulk mailing list without that person's permission.   Exceptions: mailing lists specifically established for RI Directors, Trustees, and Officers (including, but not limited to District Governors, District Governors-Elect, District Governors Nominee), as well as RI Committee members, RI Task Force Chairmen and Coordinators, DICOs, CICOs, and Club Presidents and other Officers. 
-By virtue of having accepted the duties and responsibilities of their positions, Rotarians included in the "exception" list above shall be presumed to have given permission to receive and forward Email pertaining to their positions.
-Rotarians, by virtue of having accepted the duties and responsibilities of Membership shall be presumed to have given permission to receive limited Email pertaining to their Membership and general District business.
-E-groups and other bulk mailing lists shall not be used for expressing political or religious views, or for the distribution of jokes and the like. 
-E-mail lists shall not be published in any form that is available to the public.  Web sites containing mailing lists or individual e-mail addresses (other than the e-mail addresses of the Web Masters) should be password protected.  Such passwords should not be distributed to non-Rotarians.
